An Initiative to Promote Good Samaritans Through Training

Road crashes and resulting fatalities is a serious issue of concern. To minimize road crash fatalities, Community for Safer Roads in collaboration with State Road Safety Cell – Transport Department, Traffic Police and Eternal Hospital, Jaipur launched LIFE BELT Project on 19th February 2019. Under the banner of the project, Community for Safer Rods and Eternal Hospital are organizing Training Sessions on Road Safety, Basic Life Support and Good Samaritan. The participants are also given hands-on-training on manikin for CPR. Participants after the training are titled as LIFE BELT and they are advised to act as Good Samaritans by helping the road crash victim and rush them to the nearest hospital within the Golden Hour. Under the project participants from Government Stakeholders, College Students  and Teachers are given training. So far Community for Safer Roads and Eternal Hospital, Jaipur has trained more than 5,000 participants as LIFE BELT. The participants are also provided IEC Material for Basic Life Support and a Certificate of Participation.

Make Road Stretch Safer to Reduce Road Crash Fatalities

Community for Safer Roads, Jaipur along with various Government and private stakeholders has launched a project titled Making Road Stretches Safer to Reduce Road Crash Fatalities on certain accident prone urban / sub-urban roads. To initiate the project our organization has identified an urban road stretch, around 25 kilometers in length, in a Jaipur city. Road Safety requires a multi-pronged approach; thus, working on one aspect is insufficient. Complying with the strategy, the organization has sought collaboration of various stakeholder departments such Transport Department, Traffic Police, Road Owning Agencies, Medical & Health Department, RIICO and certain other private partners including Sitapura Industries Association, Jaipur. The activities being organized under this project are broadly classified into the following dimensions:

Developments Made So Far

Community for Safer Roads in collaboration with Transport Department, Traffic Police and Sitapura Industries Association (SIA) convened an Inception Meeting for the project on 9th February 2021. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Nidhi Singh – Dy. Transport Commissioner (Road Safety), State Road Safety Cell Transport Department Rajasthan. Mr. Lalit Sharma – Addl. S. P. (Traffic), Mr. V. K. Vijay – Senior Regional Manager, RIICO and Prof. B. L. Swami – Head Civil Engineering Department, MNIT, Dr. L. N. Pandey – Senior Medical Officer and Mr. Ujjawal Sharma – Dy. S. P. from State Road Safety Cell, Transport Department also participated in the meeting. The work of Public Survey is under progress.
